Selangor Eyeing For A Win In Stadium Likas

Tonight, Selangor FC will play their last away game for Super League 2021 against Sabah FC at the Likas Stadium, Kota Kinabalu at 8.15 pm.

According to Karsten Neitzel, the head coach of Selangor FC wants the players to continue to give a good performance and get three valuable points despite still losing some key players.

"For me, every chance there is no matter big or small, we have to fight for it and try everything to finish the league in the best position. So, three points are the target in the last two games of this season," Karsten insisted.

"Even though Selangor FC lost some key players, I don't make it an excuse because we have a good line-up of players in the team. The most important thing is our performance on the field and our strive in becoming one of the best teams in the league."

"I believe every player will do their best on the field tonight and the coaching staff has made the necessary preparations for them to play against Sabah FC. Not forgetting the young players who have added a good performance throughout this season, they are still improving themselves. I'm sure they will always give their best," he added.

As for the players’ availability, Selangor FC lost the services of central defender Ashmawi Yakin who was suspended for one match after receiving a red card in the previous match and is still unable to list down Tim Heubach who is still in the recovery process.

Meanwhile, three other Red Giants first-team players; Halim Saari, Shahrel Fikri, and team skipper Brendan Gan are also still undergoing long-term rehabilitation sessions and are expected to return to the team after the end of the season.

Selangor supporters, however, can breathe a sigh of relief when the young Red Giants center-back, Sharul Nazeem returns to the team after being suspended for one match for collecting three yellow cards.

The Rhinos are currently 9th out of the league with 19 points, while the Red Giants are 5th in the league with 33 points from eight wins, six draws, and five losses. During the first leg this season, Selangor dropped 2 points after Sabah managed to secure a 2-2 draw in Stadium MBPJ in the dying minutes.

Tonight's victory will ensure that the Red Giants continue to compete for the 3rd best place in the league to brighten the chances of playing on the Asian stage next season (subject to the results of the Malaysia Cup).

Hopefully, Selangor FC can bring home three points tonight. Keep up the Red Giants fight!

Demi kebanggaan.
